Ingredients
3 cups guava pulp, peeled
¾ cup honey
1 cup water
Lemon juice to taste
¾ cup honey
1 cup water
Lemon juice to taste
Where to find ingredients
Guava and lemons are readily available in local public markets and supermarkets. If guava pulp is unavailable, fresh ripe guavas can be used as the primary source. Honey is found in the pantry aisle of most grocery stores.
Preparation method
- Place the guava pulp, honey, and water in a large saucepan.
- Bring to a medium-high heat and wait for it to reach a boil.
- Reduce the heat and maintain a gentle simmer for 10 minutes.
- Stir the mixture occasionally and skim off any foam that rises to the top using a spoon.
- Transfer the cooked mixture to a blender.
- Pulse on low speed just to process the pulp without crushing the hard seeds.
- Pass the puree through a fine-mesh sieve set over a bowl.
- Use a wooden spoon to press the mixture through to extract all the liquid, while catching the seeds and pulp remains in the sieve.
- Discard the seeds and fibrous residue left in the sieve.
- Finish by stirring the lemon juice into the strained puree.
