¾ cup of honey
1 cup of water
Lemon juice to taste
¾ cup of honey
1 cup of water
Lemon juice to taste
Where to find ingredients
Find fresh guavas at local open-air markets or the produce section of neighborhood supermarkets. Honey and fresh lemons are readily available in the baking or produce aisles of any grocery store.
Preparation method
- Place the guava pulp, honey, and water into a large pot.
- Place the pot over medium-high heat and bring the mixture to a boil.
- Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer gently for 10 minutes.
- Stir the mixture occasionally and use a spoon to skim off any foam that forms on the surface.
- Transfer the cooked mixture to a blender.
- Pulse on low speed just enough to break down the pulp without crushing the hard seeds.
- Pass the purée through a fine-mesh sieve set over a bowl.
- Use a wooden spoon to press the mixture through, extracting all the liquid while keeping the seeds and fibers behind in the sieve.
- Discard the seeds and remaining pulp left in the sieve.
- Finish by stirring the lemon juice into the strained purée.
