1 garlic clove, crushed
1 tsp dried oregano
100g lean ground beef
1/2 onion, finely chopped
1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
Salt to taste
1 tbsp all-purpose flour
1/2 can tomato sauce
1 garlic clove, crushed
1 tsp dried oregano
100g lean ground beef
1/2 onion, finely chopped
1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
Salt to taste
1 tbsp all-purpose flour
1/2 can tomato sauce
Where to find ingredients
You can find these ingredients at any local supermarket or neighborhood grocer. Fresh beef mince and aromatics are readily available at the fresh produce and butchery sections. For the fresh cheese, locally available 'queso fresco' style white cheeses or firm paneer make excellent substitutes if the specific Brazilian variety is unavailable.
Preparation method
- Season the cheese cubes with the oregano and set them aside.
- In a medium bowl, combine the ground beef, chopped onion, crushed garlic, chopped parsley, and salt.
- Gradually add the flour to the meat mixture, kneading well until you achieve a homogeneous and binded dough.
- Take small portions of the meat mixture, flatten them in the palm of your hand, and place one seasoned cheese cube in the centre.
- Carefully fold the meat over the cheese, shaping and rolling it between your palms to form a smooth ball.
- Arrange the meatballs on a baking tray and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for approximately 20 minutes, or until they are golden brown and cooked through.
- While the meatballs are baking, heat up the tomato sauce in a pan over medium heat.
- Serve the hot meatballs generously drizzled with the warm tomato sauce.
