Cheese-Stuffed Meatballs

Ingredients

30 g fresh cheese, cubed
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tsp oregano
100 g lean ground meat
1/2 onion, chopped
1 tbsp chopped parsley
Salt to taste
1 tbsp all-purpose flour
1/2 can tomato sauce

Where to find ingredients

Fresh cheese is widely available in the dairy section of most supermarkets. Look for 'fresh cheese' or 'queso fresco'. Minced garlic and chopped parsley can be bought fresh or in pre-chopped/minced varieties in the produce section. Lean ground meat is a staple at any butcher counter or in the meat aisle. All-purpose flour and canned tomato sauce are pantry staples found in the baking and canned goods aisles, respectively.

Preparation method

  1. Season the cheese cubes with oregano and set aside
  2. In a bowl, mix the ground meat, chopped onion, minced garlic, chopped parsley, and salt
  3. Gradually add the flour, mixing well until you get a homogeneous mixture with a good consistency
  4. Take small portions of the meat mixture, flatten them in your palm, and place a seasoned cheese cube in the center
  5. Carefully close the meat around the cheese, shaping and rolling to form the meatballs
  6. Arrange the meatballs on a baking sheet and bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (180°C) for about 20 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through
  7. While the meatballs are baking, heat the tomato sauce
  8. Serve the meatballs hot, drizzled with the warmed tomato sauce

Observations

Meatballs stuffed with fresh cheese are a versatile and delicious dish, ideal for those looking for a practical and tasty meal. This recipe combines the succulence of ground meat with the creaminess of melted cheese, resulting in irresistible meat spheres. Served with a homemade tomato sauce, they become an excellent option for everyday meals or for entertaining friends and family.
