Cheese Bread (Pão de queijo)

Ingredients

1 cup oil
2 cups milk
3 eggs
1 kg sweet tapioca starch
2 packets grated cheese
1 pinch salt

Where to find ingredients

Look for tapioca starch in the baking aisle, grated cheese in the chilled dairy section, and the rest of the ingredients at any supermarket or neighbourhood wet market in Singapore. If needed, use a neutral hard cheese substitute for the grated cheese, but keep the original ingredient as the ideal choice.

Preparation method

  1. Add the oil, milk, eggs, sweet tapioca starch, grated cheese and salt to the blender
  2. Blend vigorously until the mixture is completely smooth
  3. Preheat the oven to medium heat
  4. Pour the batter into small tart moulds
  5. Place the moulds neatly inside a large baking tray
  6. Bake until golden
  7. Unmould the breads while still warm and serve

Observations

This practical recipe makes soft, tasty cheese breads, prepared quickly in the blender. The dough is ideal for baking in small moulds, giving you an even and irresistible finish.
