Ingredients
3 cups guava pulp, peeled
3/4 cup honey
1 cup water
Lemon juice to taste
3/4 cup honey
1 cup water
Lemon juice to taste
Where to find ingredients
Guava pulp can be found at local produce markets or specialized fruit vendors; for the honey and lemons, any local supermarket or neighborhood grocery store is sufficient.
Preparation method
- Place the guava pulp, honey, and water in a large saucepan
- Bring to a medium-high heat and wait for it to reach a boil
- Reduce the heat intensity to maintain a gentle simmer for 10 minutes
- Stir the contents occasionally and skim off any foam that forms on the surface using a spoon
- Transfer the cooked mixture to a blender
- Pulse on low speed just enough to process the pulp without crushing the hard seeds
- Pour the puree through a fine-mesh sieve set over a bowl
- Use a wooden spoon to press the mixture and extract all the liquid, while retaining the seeds and excess pulp in the sieve
- Discard the seeds and remaining pulp left in the sieve
- Finish by incorporating the lemon juice into the strained puree
Observations
