Where to find ingredients
Look for the ingredients in the dairy aisle, baking section, and coffee shelf of your local supermarket or neighborhood grocery. Condensed milk, eggs, and milk are widely available; if needed, coffee liqueur or rum can be used as a substitute for the optional ingredient.
Preparation method
- Prepare the caramel by melting the sugar directly in the flan mould over low heat. Spread the caramel up the sides.
- In a blender, add the eggs, condensed milk, milk, instant coffee and the liqueur (if using).
- Blend everything until smooth.
- Pour the mixture into the caramelised mould.
- Cover the mould with aluminium foil.
- Bake in a bain-marie in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 1 hour, or until the flan is set.
- Remove the flan from the oven and let it cool completely before placing it in the fridge.
- Once chilled, unmould the flan onto a serving plate.
- Serve cold.
