Ingredients
2 cups sugar
1 litre milk
1 small bottle coconut milk
50 g cloves
2 pinches salt
1.5 kg peeled moranga, finely chopped
100 g grated coconut
1 litre milk
1 small bottle coconut milk
50 g cloves
2 pinches salt
1.5 kg peeled moranga, finely chopped
100 g grated coconut
Where to find ingredients
Look for the ingredients in the produce section, dairy aisle, and baking section of supermarkets or public markets. If moranga is unavailable, a firm pumpkin or squash can be used as a substitute, but moranga is ideal.
Preparation method
- Place the sugar in a large saucepan
- Cook over medium heat until you get a light syrup
- Add the coconut milk
- Stir in the milk
- Add the cloves
- Season with the salt
- Keep over the heat for 5 minutes
- Add the chopped moranga
- Stir constantly until the mixture starts to boil
- Lower the stove heat
- Cook until the dessert reduces by half
- Stir in the grated coconut
- Mix all the ingredients well
- Remove the pan from the heat
- Let the dessert cool completely
- Serve with cubes of queijo minas
Observations
This recipe makes a creamy dessert that blends the sweetness of pumpkin with the texture of coconut. It is an excellent choice to serve chilled, with cheese on the side for a contrast of flavours.
