Ingredients
3 eggs
1 can of sweetened condensed milk
1 can of whole milk (use the empty condensed milk can as a measure)
3 tablespoons of sugar (for the caramel syrup)
1 can of sweetened condensed milk
1 can of whole milk (use the empty condensed milk can as a measure)
3 tablespoons of sugar (for the caramel syrup)
Where to find ingredients
You can find sweetened condensed milk and fresh eggs at local supermarkets like Shoprite or Melcom, as well as in neighborhood markets (market stalls). If you prefer, whole milk powder reconstituted in water works as a substitute for fresh milk, though full-cream fresh milk is recommended for the best texture.
Preparation method
- Preheat your oven to 180°C for 10 minutes.
- In a blender, combine the eggs, condensed milk, and whole milk, processing for about 3 minutes until the mixture is completely smooth.
- Prepare the syrup directly in a ring mold. Add the sugar to the pan and heat over low flame, stirring occasionally until it melts into a golden caramel.
- Carefully coat the interior sides and bottom of the mold with the prepared caramel.
- Pour the blended mixture into the caramel-lined mold.
- Place in the preheated oven and bake for about 40 minutes, or until the pudding is golden and firm to the touch.
- Remove from the oven and allow it to cool down completely before placing it in the fridge.
- Chill for at least 4 hours, or ideally overnight, to ensure the pudding sets perfectly.
- To unmold, gently run a knife along the edges and carefully invert the mold onto a serving plate.
