Where to find ingredients
Find the ingredients in the meat section, produce aisle, and egg section of local supermarkets or fresh produce markets; if needed, use a suitable substitute for the cooking oil.
Preparation method
- Heat a drizzle of oil in a pan
- Sauté the onion and garlic until lightly golden
- Add the minced beef to the pan
- Cook the beef, stirring well, until all the moisture has evaporated
- Season with salt and pepper to taste
- Turn off the heat and fold the chopped hard-boiled eggs into the mixture
- Let the filling cool completely before using it to prevent the pastry dough from getting damp or tearing
Observations
A perfect filling needs to be quite dry so it does not tear the pastry dough. The key is to make sure the beef is well sautéed and completely cool before assembling.
