Ingredients
30 g fresh cheese, cubed
1 clove garlic, minced
1 teaspoon oregano
100 g lean ground meat
1/2 onion, chopped
1 tablespoon chopped parsley
Salt to taste
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1/2 can tomato sauce
1 clove garlic, minced
1 teaspoon oregano
100 g lean ground meat
1/2 onion, chopped
1 tablespoon chopped parsley
Salt to taste
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1/2 can tomato sauce
Where to find ingredients
Fresh cheese can be found in the dairy section of most supermarkets. If fresh cheese is unavailable, mild white cheese like mozzarella or Monterey Jack can be used as a substitute, though it may alter the traditional flavor slightly.
Preparation method
- Season the cheese cubes with oregano and set aside
- In a bowl, mix the ground meat, chopped onion, minced garlic, chopped parsley, and salt
- Gradually add the all-purpose flour, mixing well until you achieve a homogeneous dough with binding
- Take small portions of the meat mixture, flatten them in your palm, and place a seasoned cheese cube in the center
- Carefully close the dough, shaping and rolling to form the meatballs
- Arrange the meatballs on a baking sheet and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for approximately 20 minutes, or until golden brown and fully cooked
- While the meatballs are baking, heat the tomato sauce
- Serve the meatballs hot, drizzled with the warmed tomato sauce
