Easy homemade light mayonnaise (Maionese)

Ingredients

1 glass of cold milk
1 coffee cup of vegetable oil
1 tablespoon of white vinegar or lemon juice
1/2 packet of unflavoured gelatin

Where to find ingredients

Find the ingredients in the chilled dairy aisle, baking section, and condiment shelves of supermarkets or local grocery shops; unflavoured gelatin is usually sold in the baking or dessert aisle. If needed, white vinegar can be substituted with lemon juice.

Preparation method

  1. Prepare the unflavoured gelatin according to the package instructions and set aside
  2. Place the cold milk, oil and vinegar (or lemon juice) in the blender jar
  3. Add the reserved unflavoured gelatin to the blender
  4. Blend all the ingredients on high speed until smooth and creamy
  5. Transfer the mayonnaise to an airtight container
  6. Refrigerate for at least 10 minutes to set before serving

Observations

This homemade light mayonnaise recipe is a healthier alternative to the traditional version, ideal for anyone looking for something lighter without giving up flavour. Made with just a few ingredients and prepared quickly, it becomes a versatile companion for sandwiches, salads and snacks. The addition of unflavoured gelatin gives it a firm, creamy texture, making it an excellent choice for special occasions or everyday meals.
