Optional: medium potatoes, peeled and sliced into thick rounds
3 to 4 beef stock cubes
8 large onions, sliced into thick rounds
Where to find ingredients
You can find high-quality beef (chuck or brisket) at local butcher shops (Qasais) or the meat section of large supermarkets. Stock cubes are available in the grocery aisle of all neighborhood stores. For the best results, use fresh, firm onions from local vegetable markets (sabzi mandi).
Preparation method
- Line the base of your pressure cooker with half of the onion slices.
- Crumble 1 or 2 beef stock cubes over the layer of onions.
- Arrange the beef cubes evenly on top of the onion bed.
- Season the meat by crumbling the remaining beef stock cubes over it.
- Cover the meat completely with the remaining onion slices.
- Secure the pressure cooker lid and cook over medium heat for approximately 25 minutes once it reaches pressure.
- Turn off the heat and allow the pressure to release naturally.
- If using potatoes, carefully remove the top layer of onions, add the potato rounds, replace the lid, and cook for an additional 10 minutes once pressure builds again.
- Wait for the pressure to release naturally before opening the lid.
