Fried kibbeh (Quibe frito)

Ingredients

1 kg minced beef
1 kg kibbeh wheat
2 tablespoons butter
2 onions, chopped
Salt to taste
Black pepper to taste
Mint to taste

Where to find ingredients

Minced beef, onions, butter, salt, pepper and mint can be found in supermarkets, butchers, markets and general food shops. Kibbeh wheat may be found in larger supermarkets, Middle Eastern shops or stores with international ingredients.

Preparation method

  1. Start by soaking the wheat in water for about 3 hours so it hydrates well. After this time, drain off all the water and squeeze the wheat with your hands or a clean cloth to remove excess moisture
  2. In a large bowl, add the minced beef, butter, onion, salt, pepper and mint. Mix everything very well. If you want a finer texture, quickly pass the mixture through a food processor or grinder
  3. Shape the mixture into the traditional kibbeh shape and fry in very hot oil until golden and crisp

Observations

This is a practical recipe for homemade kibbeh that is crisp on the outside and soft inside. The secret is hydrating the wheat well and seasoning generously.
