Ingredients
1/2 cup strong brewed coffee
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon baking powder
3 cups sugar
500 g raw peanuts in shell
1 tablespoon cocoa powder
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon baking powder
3 cups sugar
500 g raw peanuts in shell
1 tablespoon cocoa powder
Where to find ingredients
You can find raw peanuts in their shells at most supermarkets and local markets. For brewing strong coffee, use your preferred coffee beans or grounds. Cinnamon and cocoa powder are widely available in the spice aisle of any supermarket. Baking powder is a standard baking ingredient found in most grocery stores. Sugar is a pantry staple.
Preparation method
- In a pot, combine the sugar with the strong brewed coffee and heat over medium flame
- Stir continuously until the sugar dissolves and the syrup starts to thicken
- Add the raw peanuts in shell, cocoa powder, cinnamon, and baking powder to the pot
- Mix all the ingredients well in the hot syrup until the mixture starts to dry out and pull away from the bottom of the pot
- As soon as it reaches a dry consistency, remove the pot from the heat
- Pour the peanut mixture onto a greased baking tray
- Place in a preheated oven at a very low temperature (around 120°C or 250°F) for about 15 minutes
- While in the oven, stir the peanuts occasionally to prevent them from sticking to the tray and to ensure even drying
- Remove from the oven and let them cool completely before serving or storing
