Ingredients

12 ears of fresh corn with husks
1 cup water
2 cups sugar
1 cup finely grated coconut
1 pinch salt

Where to find ingredients

Fresh corn and coconut can be found at most grocery stores and local markets.

Method

  1. Remove the kernels from the cobs by grating or cutting close to the cob
  2. Blend the kernels in a blender with water
  3. Add the grated coconut, sugar, and salt to the mixture
  4. Mix everything very well
  5. Prepare small portions of the dough using the corn husks
  6. Fold and tie the husks firmly so the contents do not leak
  7. Heat a large pot with water until it is at a rolling boil
  8. Submerge the pamonhas one by one in the boiling water
  9. Maintain constant boiling to ensure the dough cooks properly without falling apart
  10. Let it cook for approximately 40 minutes
  11. Remove the units from the water using a slotted spoon
  12. Place them in a cool place to cool before serving
  13. Serve with coffee and grated cheese to taste

Notes

This recipe uses the corn cob entirely, utilizing the husks to shape and cook the dough, ensuring the characteristic texture and aroma of this delicacy.
