Where to find ingredients
Beef and pork can be sourced from local wet markets or supermarket butcher counters. Beef bouillon cubes and fresh produce such as onions and potatoes are readily available in the pantry and fresh produce aisles of local grocery stores.
Preparation method
- Line the bottom of your pressure cooker with half of the onion rings.
- Crumble 1 or 2 bouillon cubes over the onions.
- Place the meat cubes on top of the onions.
- Season the meat with the remaining crumbled bouillon cubes.
- Cover the meat with the remaining onion rings.
- Secure the lid and cook over medium heat for approximately 25 minutes once pressure is reached.
- Turn off the heat and allow the pressure to release naturally.
- If using potatoes, carefully remove the onions from the top, add the potato slices, re-secure the lid, and cook for another 10 minutes once pressure builds again.
- Wait for the pressure to release naturally before opening the lid.
Observations
Pressure-cooked beef is a quintessential comfort dish in Brazilian homes, prized for its practicality and the way it yields melt-in-the-mouth, pull-apart meat. It is an ideal solution for busy weeknights when you need a hearty meal without hours in the kitchen. By using the pressure cooker, you concentrate the juices and flavors, achieving a rich texture that is consistently satisfying. This versatile base pairs perfectly with a side of steamed white rice and a crisp, fresh garden salad.
