Where to find ingredients

In Tanzania, sausages, eggs, milk, wheat flour, onion, tomatoes, peppers, oil and tomato sauce are generally available from supermarkets, butcheries and local markets. Mustard, ketchup, oregano and fresh yeast are easier to find in larger supermarkets or bakery suppliers.

  3. the milk
  4. the oil
  5. the salt
  6. the yeast and the sugar in a blender and blend well
  7. Transfer the mixture to a bowl and gradually incorporate the wheat flour

  12. Add the tomato sauce
  13. the mustard and the ketchup to the sautéed mixture
  14. Season to taste and mix in the sausages to finish the filling
  15. Line a baking tray with half of the prepared dough

Observations

This Brazilian hot dog pie turns the familiar sausage filling into a complete savoury bake. The dough is soft, the filling is well seasoned, and the optional mashed potato layer makes it even more comforting for a family snack or casual supper.
