Where to find ingredients
You can source your ground beef and fresh produce at local markets or supermarkets like Massy Stores. Ensure you choose a medium-fat ground beef for better moisture. As a variation, you might replace the ham and mozzarella with bacon or smoked provolone for a deeper, smokier flavour profile.
Preparation method
- Place the ground beef into a large mixing bowl.
- Add the minced garlic and finely chopped onion to the bowl.
- Stir in the lightly beaten eggs and the grated Parmesan cheese.
- Season the mixture with salt, oregano, parsley, and black pepper.
- Mix all the ingredients thoroughly until well combined.
- Gradually incorporate the all-purpose flour, kneading with your hands until the mixture forms a uniform dough.
- Spread the meat mixture out onto a sheet of aluminium foil lightly greased with oil.
- Layer the slices of ham and mozzarella over the flattened meat.
- Distribute the sliced carrots, hard-boiled eggs, olives, and sliced onions evenly over the top.
- Carefully roll up the meat using the aluminium foil as a guide to shape it into a log.
- Transfer the roll to a rectangular baking pan.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for 25 minutes.
