1/2 onion
1 clove garlic
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp all-purpose flour
1 tsp sweet paprika
1/2 tsp cumin
1 cup water
salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
200 g green beans (about 20 pods)
1/2 onion
1 clove garlic
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp all-purpose flour
1 tsp sweet paprika
1/2 tsp cumin
1 cup water
salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
Where to find ingredients
Look for the ingredients in the supermarket meat counter, the produce section for the green beans, and the baking aisle for the flour. If needed, ask for beef mince and a good-quality beef cut suitable for mincing.
Preparation method
- Remove the meat from the fridge a little before you start so it can come to room temperature
- Bring the water to a boil over low heat
- Wash the green beans well
- Trim the ends and cut them into 1.5 cm pieces, using a diagonal cut
- Dice the onion into 1 cm cubes
- Peel and finely chop the garlic
- Heat a large pot or skillet over medium heat
- Add 1 tbsp of olive oil and spread the meat in small portions across the pan
- Let the meat brown without stirring for 1 minute
- Season with salt and pepper and sprinkle the all-purpose flour over the meat
- Cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally so the pieces break up and brown evenly
- Transfer the browned meat to a bowl and set aside
- Keep the pan over the heat and add the remaining olive oil and the onion
- Add a pinch of salt and sauté the onion for 2 minutes until softened
- Add the green beans to the pan
- Season with salt and pepper and sauté for 2 minutes until lightly browned, keeping them crisp
- Add the garlic, paprika, and cumin
- Sauté for 1 more minute until the spices release their aroma
- Pour in the hot water a little at a time while scraping the bottom of the pan with a spatula
- Return the ground beef to the pan
- Cook for another 2 minutes until the sauce thickens
- Serve immediately
Observations
This dish is a great option for everyday meals, balancing the protein from the beef with the crunch and freshness of the green beans. Follow the steps to make sure the meat browns properly before adding the vegetables.
