Where to find ingredients
Beef (top rump/coxão duro): Ask your local butcher for top rump or a similar lean but flavourful stewing cut suitable for pressure cooking. Vegetables (garlic, onion, tomato, green pepper, parsley): Easily sourced at any local grocery store or fresh produce market. MSG: Found in the herbs and spices aisle of most supermarkets or at Asian grocery shops. Tomato paste and oil: Standard items found in the pantry staples section of any grocery shop.
Preparation method
- Heat the vegetable oil in your pressure cooker over high heat
- Sauté the minced garlic and chopped onion for 3 minutes until golden brown
- Add the sliced beef and sear for 10 minutes until it changes colour
- Stir in the salt, MSG, tomato, green bell pepper, tomato paste, and hot water
- Lock the lid and cook under pressure for 30 minutes once it starts hissing
- Take the cooker off the heat and allow the pressure to release naturally
- Open the lid, stir in the fresh parsley, and serve immediately

The magic lies in the initial searing process and the blend of aromatics that really draw out the richness of the beef. It’s a versatile dish that the whole family will love. Serve it alongside plain white rice and a fresh side salad for a proper, hearty dinner.
