Easy Walnut Mousse

Ingredients

8 eggs
1 liter milk
2 cans condensed milk
400 grams cocoa drink mix
3 packages of 200 grams table cream
300 grams ground walnuts
1 package unflavored gelatin, dissolved according to package instructions

Where to find ingredients

You can find milk, eggs, cocoa drink mix, and condensed milk in the dairy or baking aisles of any standard supermarket. Table cream (often labeled as 'creme de leite' or 'heavy table cream') and unflavored gelatin can typically be found in the baking supplies section. Walnuts are available in the produce or bulk nut section of grocery stores.

Preparation

  1. Separate the egg yolks from the whites
  2. In a cold pot, combine the milk and the egg yolks passed through a fine-mesh sieve
  3. Add the cocoa drink mix and the condensed milk
  4. Place over medium heat
  5. Cook for about 15 minutes
  6. Stir continuously until a thick cream forms
  7. Remove the pot from the heat
  8. Incorporate the ground walnuts and the table cream
  9. Add the dissolved unflavored gelatin
  10. Gently fold in the whipped egg whites until the mixture is homogeneous
  11. Transfer the mixture to a serving dish
  12. Place in the freezer for approximately 2 hours until it reaches a mousse consistency
  13. Monitor carefully to prevent the mixture from freezing completely
  14. Decorate the surface with whole walnuts before serving
  15. Keep the dessert in the refrigerator after serving for the first time

Notes

A practical and elegant dessert, perfect for serving after meals. The secret is in gently folding in the whipped egg whites to ensure the dessert's light and airy texture.
