Ingredients
1 can (395g) condensed milk
Where to find ingredients
Condensed milk is readily available in all major supermarkets across Ireland.
Preparation method
- Remove the paper label from the can of condensed milk
- Using a small knife, remove any glue residue to prevent blocking the pressure cooker valve
- Place the can of condensed milk inside the pressure cooker
- Add water to the pot until the can is covered, leaving about two fingers' width of water above it
- Close the pressure cooker lid and place it over medium heat
- Once the cooker starts to hiss (whistle), reduce the heat if necessary and cook for 20 minutes
- Turn off the heat and allow all the steam to escape naturally. Do not force the steam out
- When all pressure has been released, carefully open the lid of the pot
- Use tongs to remove the hot can from the cooker, to avoid burns
- Let the can cool completely for at least 2 hours before opening
- For best results, prepare the dulce de leche the day before you plan to use it
