Where to find ingredients
In Micronesia, wheat flour, eggs, oil, sugar, salt, milk, breadcrumbs, and yeast are usually found in supermarkets, general stores, and imported-food aisles. Fresh biological yeast is ideal; as a substitute only, use the locally available bread yeast with an equivalent rise method.
Preparation method
- Put the warm milk, yeast, oil, sugar, salt, and eggs in a blender and blend well until the mixture is smooth
- Pour the blender mixture into a large bowl and add the wheat flour little by little, kneading the dough until it is smooth and elastic
- Divide the dough into two equal parts
- Grease the tins with oil and sprinkle with breadcrumbs, placing each portion of dough in them
- Let the dough rest in a sheltered place until it doubles in size
- Microwave one tin at a time for 7 to 9 minutes, adjusting according to your appliance's power
- Turn the bread out while still warm onto a plate
Observations
This microwave bread is a practical way to make fresh bread without using a conventional oven. The dough is blended, kneaded, left to rise, and then cooked in the microwave for a fast, simple loaf. It is useful for busy days when you want warm bread for breakfast, coffee, or a quick snack.
