500g bulgur wheat
1kg minced beef
2 onions, finely chopped
1 tomato, seeded and chopped
fresh mint, chopped, to taste
salt, to taste
black pepper, to taste
2 tablespoons olive oil

Where to find ingredients
Look for bulgur wheat, minced beef, onions, tomatoes, fresh mint, salt, black pepper and olive oil in the grains, fresh produce, meat and spices sections of supermarkets, open markets or neighborhood grocers.
Preparation method
- Place the bulgur wheat in a bowl
- Cover with water and let it hydrate for 3 hours
- Drain off all the excess liquid
- Squeeze the bulgur between your hands to remove any remaining moisture
- Add the beef, onions, tomato, mint, salt and pepper
- Mix all the ingredients until you have a well-combined mixture
- If you prefer a finer, more even texture, run the mixture through a food processor or grinder
- Spread the mixture evenly in a greased baking dish
- Drizzle the surface of the kibbeh with the olive oil
- Bake in the oven
Observations
This practical recipe gives you a moist, flavourful kibbeh. The key is to hydrate the bulgur properly and use fresh herbs, which give the dish a special aroma.
