Ingredients
3 large eggs
2 tablespoons butter
1 cup milk
1 tin condensed milk
1 large fresh coconut, grated
2 tablespoons butter
1 cup milk
1 tin condensed milk
1 large fresh coconut, grated
Where to find ingredients
Eggs, butter, and milk are readily available in any British supermarket. Condensed milk can be found in the baking aisle or the 'World Foods' section. For the coconut, you can find fresh whole coconuts in the produce section of most large supermarkets; alternatively, for convenience, many UK grocery stores now stock high-quality frozen grated coconut or premium desiccated coconut in the baking aisle, which works as a suitable substitute if you can't find a fresh one to grate yourself.
Preparation method
- Add the eggs, butter, milk, condensed milk, and grated coconut into a blender
- Blitz all the ingredients together until you have a smooth, well-combined mixture
- Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish or ovenproof tin
- Place in an oven preheated to 180°C
- Bake for roughly 30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the cocada feels firm to the touch
Observations
Cocada de forno is a traditional Brazilian favourite, celebrated for its rich, creamy consistency and the comforting, sweet scent of fresh coconut. It’s an incredibly straightforward and quick pudding to whip up, perfect for when you're craving a proper homemade treat without any fuss.
This dessert is a total breeze to make, requiring just a few store-cupboard staples. By blending desiccated or grated coconut with a base of condensed milk and eggs, you get a lovely, soft bake that fills the kitchen with an irresistible aroma while it's in the oven.
