Sonho de Valsa Chocolate Layer Cake (Torta de Sonho de Valsa)

Ingredients

2 cans condensed milk
1 can heavy cream
500 ml whole milk
2 eggs
4 tablespoons chocolate drink powder
4 tablespoons margarine
4 tablespoons sugar
6 wafer bonbons filled with cashew cream and covered in chocolate

Where to find ingredients

You can find these ingredients at local supermarkets or grocery stores in your area. If you cannot find the specific wafer bonbons, any high-quality chocolate-covered wafer candy filled with hazelnut or cashew cream can be used as a substitute.

Preparation method

  1. For the first layer, mix 1 can of condensed milk with half of the whole milk.
  2. Add the egg yolks from the two eggs and 2 tablespoons of margarine.
  3. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until a thick cream is formed.
  4. Pour this cream into a glass baking dish.
  5. Distribute 2 chopped bonbons over the cream and place in the freezer to set.
  6. For the second layer, combine the second can of condensed milk with the remaining milk.
  7. Add the other 2 tablespoons of margarine and the chocolate drink powder.
  8. Bring to a heat and stir until it forms a creamy brigadeiro texture, being careful not to over-thicken.
  9. Spread this brigadeiro over the firm first layer in the dish.
  10. Distribute 2 more chopped bonbons over this layer.
  11. Return to the freezer for a short period to ensure the layers remain distinct.
  12. For the third layer, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form.
  13. Fold in the sugar and gently incorporate the heavy cream.
  14. Spread this topping over the previous layers.
  15. Finish by decorating with the remaining 2 chopped bonbons.
  16. Keep in the freezer until ready to serve.

Observations

A three-layered dessert perfect for special occasions. The key to success lies in respecting the cooling time between layers to ensure the structure remains well-defined and professional in appearance.
