Ingredients
6 eggs
2 cups sugar
1 can (350 ml) cola soft drink
2 cups wheat flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
2 cups sugar
1 can (350 ml) cola soft drink
2 cups wheat flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
Where to find ingredients
In Vanuatu, these ingredients can usually be found at supermarkets, general food shops, local stores and market suppliers that sell basic baking goods, eggs and soft drinks.
Preparation method
- Open the can of soft drink and let it stand for a few minutes so the gas can settle.
- In a bowl, beat the egg yolks with the sugar until pale and fluffy.
- Add the cola soft drink to the egg yolk and sugar mixture.
- Mix well until all the ingredients are fully combined and dissolved.
- Gently fold the sifted wheat flour and the beaten egg whites into the batter.
- Lastly, add the baking powder and mix gently so you do not lose the air from the egg whites.
- Pour the batter into a cake tin that has been greased and floured.
- Bake in a preheated moderate oven at 180°C for about 40 minutes, or until a skewer inserted in the centre comes out clean.
