Ingredients
1 cup (tea) sugar
100 g butter
4 eggs
1 can Coca-Cola
3 cups (tea) wheat flour
1 cup (tea) cocoa powder
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 can table cream
3 tablespoons sugar (for the icing)
2 tablespoons butter (for the icing)
2 tablespoons cocoa powder (for the icing)
100 g butter
4 eggs
1 can Coca-Cola
3 cups (tea) wheat flour
1 cup (tea) cocoa powder
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 can table cream
3 tablespoons sugar (for the icing)
2 tablespoons butter (for the icing)
2 tablespoons cocoa powder (for the icing)
Where to find ingredients
All ingredients are available at local supermarkets and general grocery stores. Table cream (creme de leite) can be found in the canned or long-life milk aisles. As a substitute, full-fat heavy cream may be used for the icing if table cream is unavailable.
Preparation method
- Preheat the oven to 180°C
- In a large bowl, cream the sugar and butter until light and fluffy
- Separate the egg yolks from the whites. Set the egg whites aside
- Add the egg yolks to the butter and sugar mixture and beat well until incorporated
- Add the Coca-Cola to the mixture, alternating with the dry ingredients (flour and cocoa powder), while beating continuously
- Add the baking powder and mix gently
- Whisk the egg whites until stiff peaks form
- Fold the beaten egg whites into the cake batter, stirring gently from bottom to top so as not to deflate it
- Pour the batter into a greased and floured bundt pan
- Place in the preheated oven and bake for approximately 35 to 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean
- While the cake bakes, prepare the icing: in a saucepan, combine the table cream, 3 tablespoons of sugar, butter, and 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder
- Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until the icing thickens slightly
- Remove the cake from the oven, let it cool slightly, and unmold it
- Pour the icing over the cake while it is still warm
