Ingredients
300 gr all-purpose flour
200 gr butter
100 gr sugar
1 egg yolk
2 tablespoons red wine (divided)
6 tart red apples (1kg)
100 gr seedless white raisins
200 gr butter
100 gr sugar
1 egg yolk
2 tablespoons red wine (divided)
6 tart red apples (1kg)
100 gr seedless white raisins
Where to find ingredients
Butter, flour, sugar, eggs, red wine, apples, and raisins can be found at most grocery stores and supermarkets. Look for tart red apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp for the best flavor.
Preparation method
- Beat the butter with the sugar until a homogeneous cream is obtained
- Add the egg yolk and one tablespoon of red wine to the mixture
- Incorporate the flour gradually
- Work the dough until it is uniform
- Consider that the dough will have a more oily and sticky consistency
- Separate the dough into two parts, one equivalent to 2/3 and the other to 1/3 of the total
- Let the two portions rest in the refrigerator for 30 minutes
- Peel the apples and cut them into medium-sized slices
- Mix the sliced apples with the remaining tablespoon of wine and the raisins
- Cook the mixture in the steam until the apples are tender
- Line the bottom and sides of a removable-rim pie dish with the larger part of the dough
- Spread the apple filling over the prepared base
- Use the smaller portion of the dough to create thin rolls
- Place these rolls over the filling to create a lattice pattern
- Bake in a moderate oven until the top of the pie is golden
