1 kg beef (chuck, shoulder, or shin) or pork loin, cut into large cubes
Optional: medium potatoes, peeled and sliced into thick rounds
3 to 4 beef bouillon cubes
8 large onions, sliced into thick rounds
Optional: medium potatoes, peeled and sliced into thick rounds
3 to 4 beef bouillon cubes
8 large onions, sliced into thick rounds
Where to find ingredients
Beef (chuck or shoulder) can be easily sourced from local butcher shops or supermarket meat counters; look for cuts suitable for slow cooking. Beef bouillon cubes are readily available in the stock or seasonings aisle of any grocery store. Onions and potatoes are standard produce items found in every market. If you are specifically looking for high-quality, grass-fed beef or regional specialty cuts, visit a reputable neighborhood butcher or a premium food store.
Preparation method
- Line the bottom of your pressure cooker with half of the onion slices
- Crumble 1 or 2 bouillon cubes over the onions
- Place the meat cubes on top of the onion layer
- Season the meat with the remaining crumbled bouillon cubes
- Cover the meat with the rest of the onion slices
- Seal the lid and cook on medium heat for about 25 minutes once the pressure builds up
- Turn off the heat and let the pressure release naturally
- If you want to add potatoes, remove the top onion layer, add the potato slices, seal the pot again, and cook for another 10 minutes under pressure
- Always let the pressure release naturally before opening the lid
