Where to find ingredients
Find fresh herbs and staples at local markets or neighborhood grocery stores. Wheat flour and vegetable oil are common pantry staples available in any standard market.
Preparation method
- Cook the rice in salted water until very soft.
- Drain any excess water if necessary.
- In a blender, process the cooked rice with the egg, parsley, cilantro, and green onion until smooth.
- Transfer the mixture to a pot.
- Add the wheat flour gradually, mixing well.
- Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until the dough pulls away from the bottom of the pot and forms a ball.
- Season with salt to taste.
- Remove the dough from the pot and let it cool slightly.
- On a clean, lightly floured surface, roll the dough into a log about 2 cm in diameter.
- Cut the gnocchi into pieces approximately 2 cm long.
- In a large pot, bring plenty of water to a boil with salt and about 4 tbsp of the vegetable oil.
- Add the gnocchi to the boiling water in small batches to prevent sticking.
- Remove the gnocchi as soon as they rise to the surface, indicating they are cooked.
