Easy Homemade Creamy Coconut Candy

Ingredients

2 small grated coconuts or 1 large grated coconut
2 cans condensed milk
1 tablespoon margarine
8 egg yolks
1/2 cup cow's milk

Where to find ingredients

Grated coconut can be found in most supermarkets, usually in the baking or international foods aisle. Condensed milk and margarine are staple items available in all supermarkets. Eggs and cow's milk are also readily available in the dairy section of any supermarket.

Preparation method

  1. In a saucepan, heat the condensed milk and margarine over low heat
  2. Stir continuously until the mixture begins to pull away from the bottom of the pan
  3. Add the grated coconut to the pan and mix well
  4. Remove the pan from the heat and let the mixture cool slightly
  5. In a separate bowl, dissolve the egg yolks in the milk
  6. Gently stir the yolk and milk mixture into the sweet, off the heat
  7. Grease a baking dish with margarine
  8. Pour the coconut candy mixture into the greased dish
  9. Bake in a preheated oven at low temperature for approximately 20 minutes
  10. Keep an eye on it to prevent the edges of the coconut candy from burning during baking

Making coconut candy at home is a great way to enjoy this artisanal delight, perfect for dessert or to go with a coffee. This recipe focuses on a creamy and easy-to-make version, ideal for kitchen beginners.

The preparation is relatively simple, but requires attention to detail to achieve the perfect consistency. The main ingredients are coconut, condensed milk, and a touch of fat, which together create a rich and flavourful base. The final baking in the oven enhances the flavours and gives the desired texture to this delicacy.
