1 clove of garlic
2 tablespoons olive oil

200 g green beans (approx. 20 pods)
1/2 onion
1 clove of garlic
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon sweet paprika
1/2 teaspoon cumin
1 cup water

Where to find ingredients
Find fresh beef and seasonal vegetables at local supermarkets or farmers' markets. If lean ground beef (patinho) is unavailable, any high-quality ground beef with low fat content serves as a suitable substitute.
Preparation method
- Remove the beef from the refrigerator shortly before starting so it reaches room temperature
- Bring the water to a simmer over low heat
- Wash the green beans thoroughly
- Trim the ends and cut them into 1.5 cm pieces, using a diagonal cut
- Chop the onion into 1 cm cubes
- Peel and finely mince the garlic
- Heat a large skillet or pan over medium heat
- Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil and spread the beef in small portions across the pan
- Let the beef brown without stirring for 1 minute
- Season with salt, pepper, and sprinkle the flour over the meat
- Cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally so the pieces break apart and brown evenly
- Transfer the browned beef to a bowl and set aside
- Keep the pan on the heat and add the remaining olive oil and the onion
- Add a pinch of salt and sauté the onion for 2 minutes until softened
- Add the green beans to the pan
- Season with salt and pepper and sauté for 2 minutes until lightly browned, keeping them crisp
- Add the garlic, paprika, and cumin
- Sauté for 1 more minute until the spices become fragrant
- Pour the hot water in gradually while scraping the bottom of the pan with a spatula
- Return the ground beef to the pan
- Cook for 2 more minutes until the sauce has thickened
- Serve immediately
Observations
This dish is an excellent choice for everyday meals, balancing the protein of the beef with the crunch and freshness of green beans. Follow the instructions to ensure the meat browns perfectly before incorporating the vegetables to achieve the ideal texture.
