Ingredients
1 egg
1/2 kg wheat flour
2 tablespoons oil
1 cup water
1 cube fresh yeast
25 g sugar
15 g salt
1/2 kg wheat flour
2 tablespoons oil
1 cup water
1 cube fresh yeast
25 g sugar
15 g salt
Where to find ingredients
Find the ingredients in the flour aisle, dairy section, baking shelf, and fresh produce area of most supermarkets or local grocery shops. If needed, a fresh yeast substitute can be used, but the ideal ingredient is fresh yeast.
Preparation method
- Mix the yeast with a small portion of the flour and a little of the water to create a sponge
- Let the mixture rest for about 10 minutes to activate the yeast
- Add the remaining flour, the egg, the sugar, the salt, the oil and the rest of the water gradually
- Knead well until you have a smooth, very soft dough
- Shape into balls of your preferred size and let rest for 15 minutes under a clean tea towel
- Roll out each ball with a rolling pin, add the filling of your choice and seal the edges well as if making a pastel
- Arrange the fogazzas on a greased baking tray and let them rest briefly before frying
- Fry in hot oil until golden on both sides and drain on paper towel
