Ingredients
1 egg
1/2 kg wheat flour
2 tablespoons oil
1 cup water
1 block fresh yeast
25 g sugar
15 g salt
1/2 kg wheat flour
2 tablespoons oil
1 cup water
1 block fresh yeast
25 g sugar
15 g salt
Where to find ingredients
You can find wheat flour, sugar, salt, eggs, and oil at local supermarkets or general grocery stores. Fresh yeast is usually available in the refrigerated section of bakeries or supermarkets. If fresh yeast is unavailable, active dry yeast can be used as a substitute, following package instructions for conversion.
Preparation method
- Mix the yeast with a small portion of the flour and a little of the water to create a starter sponge
- Let the mixture rest for about 10 minutes to activate the yeast
- Add the remaining flour, egg, sugar, salt, oil, and the rest of the water gradually
- Knead well until you obtain a homogeneous and very soft dough
- Shape into small balls of your preferred size and let them rest for 15 minutes under a clean kitchen towel
- Roll out each ball with a rolling pin, insert the filling of your choice, and seal the edges tightly like a pastry
- Place the pockets on a greased tray and let them rest briefly before frying
- Fry in hot oil until golden brown on both sides and drain on paper towels
