Where to find ingredients
You can find these ingredients at local grocery stores or produce markets. Ground lean beef, known as 'patinho', can be substituted with any high-quality lean ground beef.
Preparation method
- Remove the meat from the refrigerator shortly before starting so it reaches room temperature.
- Place the water to boil over low heat.
- Wash the green beans thoroughly.
- Remove the ends and cut them into 1.5 cm pieces using a diagonal cut.
- Dice the onion into 1 cm cubes.
- Peel and finely mince the garlic.
- Heat a large pot or skillet over medium heat.
- Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil and spread the meat in small portions around the pan.
- Let the meat brown without stirring for 1 minute.
- Season with salt, pepper, and sprinkle the flour over the meat.
- Cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally so the pieces break apart and brown evenly.
- Place the browned meat in a bowl and set aside.
- Keep the pot on the heat and add the remaining olive oil and the onion.
- Add a pinch of salt and sauté the onion for 2 minutes until softened.
- Introduce the green beans to the pot.
- Season with salt and pepper and sauté for 2 minutes until lightly browned, maintaining a crunchy texture.
- Add the garlic, paprika, and cumin.
- Sauté for another 1 minute until the spices release their aroma.
- Pour in the hot water gradually while scraping the bottom of the pan with a spatula.
- Return the ground meat to the pot.
- Cook for another 2 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Serve immediately.
Observations
This dish is an excellent choice for daily meals, balancing the protein from the meat with the crunch and freshness of the green beans. Follow these instructions to ensure the meat browns perfectly before incorporating the vegetables.
