Fragrant pressure cooker rice (Arroz perfumado na panela de pressao)

Ingredients

1 1/2 cups rice
2 cups water
1 star anise
1 teaspoon salt

Where to find ingredients

Rice and salt are available in supermarkets and general food shops. Star anise can be found in supermarkets, spice shops or stores that sell Asian ingredients. If star anise is unavailable, use a small piece of cinnamon as a substitute for aroma, keeping star anise as ideal.

Preparation method

  1. Place the rice, water, salt and star anise inside the pressure cooker
  2. Mix everything gently with a spoon
  3. Close the pan and place over high heat
  4. When the pan starts to whistle, indicating pressure, lower the heat
  5. Cook for 5 minutes
  6. Turn off the heat and wait for the steam to release naturally until the noise stops completely
  7. Open the pan safely and remove the star anise
  8. Transfer the rice to a bowl
  9. Serve while still hot

Observations

This cooking method produces rice with a soft, slightly sticky texture. It is an excellent choice for serving with Asian-style dishes or any meal that needs a distinctive aromatic touch.
