Pressure Cooker Brown Rice

Ingredients

1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 onion
1 bay leaf
1 whole clove
1 cup long-grain brown rice
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups boiling water

Where to find ingredients

All ingredients are pantry staples found in the dry goods, produce, and spice aisles of any standard grocery store.

Preparation

  1. Keep the half onion whole without chopping it
  2. Attach the bay leaf to the onion using the clove as a pin
  3. Place the pressure cooker on the stove over medium heat without the lid
  4. Add the olive oil, the prepared onion, and the rice
  5. Season with the salt
  6. Sauté everything for 1 minute so the grains are well coated with the oil
  7. Pour in the boiling water and stir the ingredients
  8. Close the lid and increase the heat
  9. Once the pressure cooker begins to hiss, reduce the heat and cook for 15 minutes
  10. Turn off the heat and wait for the pressure to release naturally before opening the lid
  11. Use a fork to fluff the rice and serve immediately

Notes

This method speeds up the cooking of brown rice, which naturally takes longer than white rice, ensuring a fluffy and flavorful side dish for your meals.
