1 tablespoon margarine for frying
1 can condensed milk
3 ripe, large banana catturra bananas
1 pinch ground cinnamon, to taste
1 can condensed milk
3 ripe, large banana catturra bananas
1 pinch ground cinnamon, to taste
Where to find ingredients
Look for ripe bananas in the fresh produce section, condensed milk in the long-life dairy aisle, margarine near spreads and baking goods, and ground cinnamon in the spice section. If needed, a neutral cooking spread can be used as a substitute for margarine.
Preparation method
- Peel the bananas and cut them first lengthwise and then in half, making four pieces from each banana
- Melt the margarine in a non-stick frying pan over medium heat
- Arrange the banana slices in the pan and grill until lightly golden and tender
- Transfer the bananas to an ovenproof dish
- While still hot, cover the bananas with the condensed milk and sprinkle ground cinnamon over the surface to taste
- Place the dish in the refrigerator and chill until the sweet is very cold, almost frozen, before serving
Observations
Fried bananas with condensed milk is a classic Brazilian dessert, prized for how simple it is to make and for the perfect pairing of the fruit’s sweetness with a hint of cinnamon spice. It is an ideal choice when you want a quick finish to a meal or an easy homemade sweet without fuss.
