1/2 onion
1 garlic clove
2 tablespoons olive oil

Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
200 g green beans (about 20 units)
1/2 onion
1 garlic clove
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon sweet paprika
1/2 teaspoon cumin
1 cup water
Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
Where to find ingredients
Find fresh green beans, lean beef, and pantry staples like spices and flour at local grocery stores, butcher shops, or farmers markets. If required, substitute round beef with any high-quality lean ground beef.
Preparation method
- Remove the meat from the refrigerator a little before starting so it reaches room temperature
- Bring the water to a boil over low heat
- Wash the green beans thoroughly
- Remove the ends and cut them into 1.5 cm pieces, using a diagonal cut
- Dice the onion into 1 cm cubes
- Peel and finely mince the garlic
- Heat a large pan or skillet over medium heat
- Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil and spread the meat in small portions around the pan
- Let the meat brown without stirring for 1 minute
- Season with salt, pepper and sprinkle the flour over the meat
- Cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally so the pieces break up and brown evenly
- Remove the browned meat to a bowl and set aside
- Keep the pan on the heat and add the remaining olive oil and the onion
- Add a pinch of salt and sauté the onion for 2 minutes until soft
- Add the green beans to the pan
- Season with salt and pepper and sauté for 2 minutes until slightly browned, keeping them crisp
- Add the garlic, paprika, and cumin
- Sauté for another 1 minute until the aromas are released
- Pour in the hot water little by little while scraping the bottom of the pan with a spatula
- Return the browned ground beef to the pan
- Cook for another 2 minutes until the sauce thickens
- Serve immediately
Observations
This dish is an excellent choice for daily meals, balancing the protein of the beef with the crunch and freshness of the green beans. Follow the steps to ensure the meat browns perfectly before incorporating the vegetables.
