Where to find ingredients
Beef steaks, eggs, wheat flour, breadcrumbs and frying oil are available in supermarkets and butcheries. Round, rump or fillet are the ideal cuts listed in the recipe.
Preparation method
- Season the steaks with salt, black pepper and crushed garlic, if desired
- Let the meat rest for at least 10 minutes to absorb the seasoning
- In a deep plate, beat the eggs until smooth
- Prepare two shallow plates: one with wheat flour and another with breadcrumbs
- Pass each steak through the wheat flour, lightly coating both sides
- Dip the seasoned steak into the beaten egg mixture
- Transfer the steak to the plate with breadcrumbs, covering the whole surface evenly
- Heat a generous amount of oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat
- Fry the coated steaks for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until well browned
- Remove the steaks from the pan and place them on paper towel to drain excess oil
Observations
Bife à milanesa is loved for its crunchy coating and comforting flavour. It is simple to prepare at home and works well for a family lunch or supper.
Choose tender steaks so the meat stays juicy while the breadcrumb coating turns golden and crisp. It pairs well with rice, salad, potatoes or a simple sauce.
