Quick Blender Chocolate Cake

Ingredients

4 eggs
1 cup milk
1 can condensed milk
4 tablespoons granulated sugar
3 tablespoons margarine
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons cornstarch
1 tablespoon baking powder
200g chocolate, chopped

Where to find ingredients

You can find all these ingredients at any major local supermarket. Eggs, milk, sugar, flour, and baking powder are standard pantry staples in the baking aisle. For cornstarch, look for it in the baking or flour section. Condensed milk is commonly available in the tinned goods aisle, often kept near evaporated milk. High-quality block chocolate for chopping can be found in the confectionery or dedicated baking section.

Preparation method

  1. Start by preheating your oven to 180°C
  2. Add the eggs, milk, condensed milk, sugar, margarine, all-purpose flour, cornstarch, and baking powder to a blender and blitz until the mixture is completely smooth
  3. Prepare a 22cm round cake tin by lightly greasing it with a little margarine
  4. Pour only half of the batter into the tin and scatter the chopped chocolate evenly over the top
  5. Finish by pouring the remaining batter over the chocolate to cover it completely
  6. Bake for about 40 minutes, or until the cake is nicely golden and cooked through
  7. Take it out of the oven, let the cake cool down slightly, then turn it out carefully onto a plate to serve

Observations

This is a proper go-to recipe for those busy days when you need a quick, crowd-pleasing dessert. By mixing everything in a blender, you save on clean-up, while the inclusion of condensed milk in the batter gives the crumb a unique, velvety texture and a lovely touch of sweetness.
