Ingredients
6 eggs
2 cups sugar
1 can (350 ml) cola soft drink
2 cups wheat flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
2 cups sugar
1 can (350 ml) cola soft drink
2 cups wheat flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
Where to find ingredients
In Zambia, eggs, sugar, cola soft drink, wheat flour and baking powder are easy to find in supermarkets, grocery shops and local shops. Use a regular cola soft drink for the intended texture.
Preparation method
- Open the can of soft drink and let it rest for a few minutes so the gas dissipates
- In a bowl, beat the egg yolks with the sugar until you get a pale, fluffy cream
- Add the cola soft drink to the egg yolk and sugar mixture
- Mix well until all the ingredients are completely combined and dissolved
- Gently fold the sifted wheat flour and beaten egg whites into the batter
- Lastly, add the baking powder and mix gently so you do not lose the air from the egg whites
- Pour the batter into a tin that has been greased and floured
- Bake in a preheated medium oven at 180°C for about 40 minutes, or until a skewer inserted in the centre comes out clean
