Where to find ingredients
Find fresh produce and meat at local farmers' markets or neighborhood supermarkets. Soy sauce, cornstarch, and noodles can be purchased in the pantry aisle of any grocery store. As a substitute for Japanese broccoli, you can use regular broccoli florets.
Preparation method
- Cook the number 8 spaghetti in boiling salted water until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Prepare the vegetables: steam the carrots, bell peppers, onions, and Japanese broccoli in a covered pan with 1/2 cup of water and the dissolved vegetable bouillon cube until tender yet crisp.
- Season the meat strips only with salt.
- In a skillet or pan, heat a little vegetable oil (if using) and brown the meat strips.
- Add the browned meat to the pan with the steamed vegetables.
- Prepare the sauce: in another saucepan, combine the prepared yakissoba sauce, soy sauce, sunflower oil, and the 500 ml of water.
- Dissolve the cornstarch in a small amount of cold water and add it to the sauce pan along with the beef bouillon cube.
- Place the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens.
- Pour the thickened sauce over the meat and vegetables. Stir well and let it boil for a few minutes, stirring occasionally.
- If desired, add sliced mushrooms.
- Serve the sauce, meat, and vegetables over the cooked noodles.
