Where to find ingredients

Preparation
- Combine the flour and salt in a large bowl
- Create a well in the center of the flour

- Gradually pour in the warm water
- Mix the ingredients with your hands until the dough pulls away from your fingers
- Transfer the dough to a smooth surface
- Knead vigorously until the dough becomes smooth and uniform
- If the dough feels too stiff, add a few drops of water
- If the dough feels sticky, sprinkle with a little extra flour
- Cover the dough with a clean kitchen towel
- Let it rest for 20 minutes
- Roll out the dough with a rolling pin until it is very thin
- Cut into your desired sizes and shapes
- Distribute your preferred filling over the dough pieces
- Press the edges firmly to seal and prevent them from opening during frying
- Deep-fry in hot oil until golden brown
- Drain any excess oil and serve immediately
Notes
To ensure your pastéis (fried hand pies) are extra crispy and not greasy, the key is to knead the dough thoroughly and roll it out very thinly before frying.
