Ingredients
4 eggs
1 cup milk
1 tin condensed milk
4 tablespoons sugar
3 tablespoons margarine
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons cornstarch
1 tablespoon baking powder
200g chopped chocolate
1 cup milk
1 tin condensed milk
4 tablespoons sugar
3 tablespoons margarine
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons cornstarch
1 tablespoon baking powder
200g chopped chocolate
Where to find ingredients
You can find all these pantry staples at any local grocery store or supermarket in Belize. Condensed milk is widely available in the canned goods aisle. If you can't find a specific brand of chocolate, any good quality block or dark chocolate from the baking or snack aisle works perfectly for the filling.
Preparation method
- Start by preheating your oven to 180°C
- Place the eggs, milk, condensed milk, sugar, margarine, flour, cornstarch, and baking powder into a blender and pulse until you have a smooth mixture
- Prepare a cake tin about 22cm in diameter by lightly greasing it with some margarine
- Pour only half of the batter into the tin and sprinkle the chopped chocolate over it
- Finish by covering everything with the remaining batter
- Bake for approximately 40 minutes, or until the cake is golden and fully cooked through
- Remove from the oven, let the cake cool down a bit, and turn it out carefully to serve
Observations
This is a super practical recipe, perfect if you're looking for a tasty dessert whipped up in no time using a blender. Adding condensed milk to the batter gives it a special texture and an extra touch of sweetness that really sets it apart.
