Where to find ingredients
Find the ingredients at a local supermarket, grocery store, or market: rice, cooking oil, onions, bay leaves, salt, and boiling water from the kitchen.
Preparation method
- Finely dice the onion
- Heat the water until it comes to a boil
- Warm a medium saucepan over low heat
- Add the olive oil and onion
- Add a pinch of salt
- Sauté the onion for 2 minutes until soft
- Stir the bay leaf into the sauté
- Add the rice and stir for 1 minute so the grains are coated with the oil
- Pour the boiling water over the rice
- Season with the remaining salt and mix gently
- Increase the heat to medium
- Do not stir the rice from this point on
- Wait until the water reaches the level of the grains
- Reduce the heat and partially cover the pan
- Cook until all the water has been absorbed
- Check the doneness by inserting a fork and separating the grains at the bottom of the pan
- Leave it on the heat for a few more moments if there is still any moisture
- Turn off the heat and keep the pan covered for 5 minutes so the steam finishes the cooking
- Fluff the grains gently with a fork before serving
