Where to find ingredients
Look for spaghetti noodles, soy sauce, cornflour, stock cubes, and canned or packaged mushroom slices in the pasta aisle, international foods section, and fresh produce market. If yakisoba sauce is unavailable, a ready-made stir-fry sauce can be used as a substitute.
Preparation method
- Cook the No. 8 spaghetti in boiling salted water until al dente. Drain and set aside
- Prepare the vegetables: cook the carrot, bell pepper, onion, and Japanese broccoli in a covered pan with 1/2 cup of water and the dissolved vegetable stock cube. Cook until tender but still crisp
- Season the beef strips with salt only
- In a frying pan or saucepan, heat a little vegetable oil (if using) and brown the beef strips
- Add the browned beef to the cooked vegetables
- Make the sauce: in another pan, mix the ready-made yakisoba sauce, soy sauce, sunflower oil, and the 500 ml of water
- Dissolve the cornflour in a little cold water and add it to the sauce pan. Also add the beef stock cube
- Bring the mixture to medium heat, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens
- Add the thickened sauce to the pan with the beef and vegetables. Mix well and let it boil for a few minutes, stirring occasionally
- If you like, add sliced mushrooms
- Serve the sauce with the beef and vegetables over the cooked noodles
