Where to find ingredients
Fresh green beans, lean ground beef, and common pantry staples like onion, garlic, spices, and olive oil can be found at local supermarkets, grocery stores, or farmers' markets.
Preparation
- Take the meat out of the refrigerator a little before you start so it reaches room temperature
- Bring the water to a boil over low heat
- Wash the green beans well
- Remove the ends and cut them into 1.5 cm pieces using a diagonal cut
- Dice the onion into 1 cm cubes
- Peel and finely mince the garlic
- Heat a large pot or skillet over medium heat
- Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil and spread the meat in small portions around the pan
- Let the meat brown without stirring for 1 minute
- Season with salt and pepper and sprinkle the flour over the meat
- Cook for 5 minutes
- Stir occasionally so the pieces break apart and brown evenly
- Transfer the browned meat to a bowl and set aside
- Keep the pan over the heat and add the remaining olive oil and the onion
- Add a pinch of salt and sauté the onion for 2 minutes until it becomes soft
- Add the green beans to the pan
- Season with salt and pepper and sauté for 2 minutes until they lightly brown
- Keep the texture crunchy
- Add the garlic, paprika, and cumin
- Sauté for 1 more minute until the spices become fragrant
- Pour the hot water in gradually while scraping the bottom of the pan with a spatula
- Return the ground meat to the pan
- Cook for another 2 minutes until the sauce thickens
- Serve immediately
Notes
This dish is an excellent option for daily meals, balancing the protein of the meat with the crispness and freshness of the green beans. Follow the instructions to ensure the meat browns perfectly before incorporating the vegetables.
